As an experienced Design Engineer, you will be responsible for preparing technical drawings and renderings of product designs for manufacturing. You will design products through the various stages of design from calculations to 3D modelling, FEA, formal submission, manufacturing drawings and installation, and support all works personnel with design specific requirements and liaise directly with the client.
The successful candidate will need to display the desire, drive, and determination to perform as part of a team. You will be given responsibility requiring you to organise your workload and be proactive. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exceptional experience.
Main activities & responsibilities:
* Ensure designs are accurately carried out based on the client information with occasional site-specific visits
* Creation and compilation of project specific documentation, and manufacturing drawings once approval is received
* Support live sites with any additional design queries
* Apply techniques such as design for manufacture, design for assembly and installation and concurrent engineering
* Prepare general arrangement drawings and produce detailed drawings for manufacture
* Provide support for the design’s life cycle (Product Lifecycle Management) from concept through to installation and service
* Provide support to customers (internal and external) around the rapid evaluation of problems, and specialist advice with the preparation and presentation of solutions
* Design and develop prototypes of new products based on customer requirements
Qualifications/Experience/Skills:
* Approximately 5 – 10 years Design Engineering experience
* Experience of designing and detailing belt conveyors and the associated support steelwork is essential
* Experience of laying out materials handling schemes for Ports, Power Stations, Mines & Quarries
* Experience of designing and detailing plant and equipment to process, handle and store
* Grain, Quarry products, Fertiliser, Coal, Iron Ore, Animal Feed etc.
* IT knowledge, including Microsoft 365 Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Projects, AutoCAD/SolidWorks, and industry-specific software
* Excellent communication skills and time management skills
* Takes pride in their work and adopts a positive attitude to work
* Ability to work in a small, cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment
