We are seeking a Deputy Manager to join our team at YHA Whitby, working 42.5 hours per week.
YHA Whitby is a busy site with accommodation for over 140 people in our historic building situated right next to Whitby Abbey. We cater to a diverse range of guests, from primary school children to families, walkers, cyclists, and backpackers. Our facilities include 26 guest bedrooms, glamping options, and a busy café.
As Deputy Manager, you will support the hostel manager in the day-to-day operational management of the hostel and deliver an excellent customer experience. Key responsibilities include:
* Contributing to the achievement of targets across all aspects of the hostel operation, including food and beverage, and maximising revenue while controlling expenditure
* Managing a team of employees and occasional volunteers
* Undertaking housekeeping, reception, and food and beverage tasks on a daily basis
Our ideal candidate will have:
* Flexibility to cover different shifts and tasks
* Previous experience in hospitality or customer service, including management and delivery of a quality service
* Leadership experience and experience managing budgets
* Food safety level 2 and APLH level 2 qualifications (desirable)
* Excellent communication skills, timekeeping, and basic IT skills
