We are looking for some enthusiastic people, who are customer focussed and understand the important connections between food and the environment, to join the team at RSPB Leighton Moss, near Carnforth in north Lancashire. RSPB Leighton Moss is recruiting for four part-time Centre Assistants to work primarily in the café, you will occasionally be asked to work in the shop. The roles are all part time with a range of hours and days available. The roles will include regular weekend and bank holiday working. Catering experience is preferred but not essential. Full training and support on all aspects of RSPB catering will be provided to enable you to drive sales, be a positive role model in the team and be an ambassador for the RSPB. You will also be provided with RSPB uniform. As Centre Assistant at RSPB Leighton Moss, you will: Assist with the day to day operation of the busy Leighton Moss café. Work as part of a motivated and passionate team of staff and volunteers. Deliver the highest standard of customer care. Serve customers, handle cash and use the till system. Prepare and serve high-quality food and drink. Maintain stock levels. Clear tables and wash up. Maintain high hygiene standards and follow all food safety and cleaning guidelines. What we need from you: Essential skills, knowledge, & experience: Basic food hygiene knowledge. Computer literate and comfortable using a till system. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to plan and prioritise work loads. Ability to manage and respond to customer needs and feedback. Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships. Ability to work as part of a team. Additional Information: This role will require regular weekend and bank holiday working. This is a part-time, permanent position with variable hours. There are several roles available: Role 1 – minimum 12 hours per week, typically 12 to 16 hours across 3 or 4 shifts per week. Role 2 – minimum 8 hours per week, typically 13 to 21.5 hours across 3 to 5 shifts per week. Role 3 – minimum 4 hours per week, typically 12 to 20 hours across 3 to 5 shifts per week. Role 4 - minimum 4 hours per week, typically 5 to 12.5 hours across 1 or 2 shifts per week. There will be opportunities for additional hours for all these roles to help cover peak periods, holidays and sickness.
