For many fans of Formula One, the sport exists between lights and chequered flag on a Sunday afternoon. It begins and ends with the exploits of the drivers on the track. But this is merely the tip of the spear. The reality of modern F1 is that of a complex and intertwined operation, every part of which needs to perform near its limit if success is to be achieved. From the pit crew searching for the ultimate repeatable pit stop, to the inspiration of the designers, the application of engineers and the herculean efforts of an army of fabricators and machinists. Much of our success is thanks to the diversity of thought and spectrum of skill sets held within the team, our ability to recognise unique contributions from individual team members is just a part of why we love what we do.
Job Description
We have a fantastic opportunity for a candidate to join our Vehicle Design department as a Junior Design Engineer in our Suspension and Driver Controls Department. The role will focus primarily on the composite aspects of the group’s workload, including but not limited to brake ducts, suspension members, aero shrouds, fairings and gaiters plus their associated tooling. A candidate displaying experience and appetite for taking on some mechanical design aspects would also be welcome.
You will be applying robust engineering methodology to all aspects of your design work and you will be working cohesively with all members of the Suspension and Driver Controls Design Group.
Based in the heart of our F1 design office, you will also work closely with the other Design and Development areas including Aero, Composites, Electronics, Structures FE, R&D and Thermal.
You will have downstream working relationships with Manufacturing and Procurement, Car Build and Race Team. With a shared dedication to excellence in engineering, you'll have an opportunity to influence the design of our future F1 cars.
Our ideal candidate will be educated to degree level within a relevant Engineering discipline. You will need to demonstrate experience of taking design projects from concept through to successful completion as well as being able to demonstrate creativity by suggesting new ideas and ambitious designs.
You will also be a competent user of 3D CAD systems – previous usage of Siemens NX would be advantageous but not mandatory. Applicants who can strongly demonstrate competences from experience in engineering disciplines other than composite design or suspension design will be considered.
Working for Red Bull comes with a whole host of benefits, such as a generous bonus scheme, private healthcare cover, life assurance scheme, workplace nursery, company contributed pension scheme, car scheme, free on-site gym and fitness classes, plus a food allowance and free barista style coffees and hot drinks on Campus.
