Job Overview The Health Board is seeking to expand its established team of consultants by appointing a talented, ambitious, visionary clinician to join the Cellular Pathology Service through this dynamic phase of its development. Consultants are offered the opportunity to take a leading role in a particular area of MDT specialist interest such as breast. However, sharing team work with other specialities is also encouraged. Flexibility of working off site, clinical and supportive sessions are also in place and can be discussed with the interested candidates. The Centre has implemented the Leica Aperio system to develop a unique digital pathology solution placing the Health Board at the forefront of Cellular Pathology Service delivery in the UK. An integral aspect of this strategy is the potential to establish new alliances with specialist centres within Wales and further afield. We utilise AI technology in our diagnostic practice and we have a new rapid, continuous tissue processor, the x120. Main duties of the job The post is 10 sessions (more or less) as agreed with the successful candidate. The appointment is to serve the whole Health Board, and the principal base will be at the Ysbyty Glan Clwyd site. The sessional arrangements will be discussed in the Job Plan. The histopathology commitment involves the provision of a comprehensive histopathological service to BCUHB. The cytopathology commitment, if pursued, involves the provision of a non-gynaecological service to BCUHB. The appointed person will be expected to participate in and contribute to Clinico- Pathological Meetings and teaching including cancer multidisciplinary teams. The post holder will be required to perform administrative and managerial duties as required and is necessary to ensure the smooth running of the Department in all hospitals. The management arrangements of the Department comply with WHC (IS)27. The appointed person will be expected to partake in audit within the department and externally, and also to participate in relevant EQA schemes.
