Description The Built Environment business unit is one of UL Solutions' oldest, having been created over 100 years ago. Over this time, our Built Environment teams have been support our customers across 4 main areas: Building & Construction, Fire Safety & Security, Building Quality & Compliance and Personal Protective Equipment. We have a superb opportunity for you to join our Built Environment (BE) team in Telford Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, our Engineer will manage the execution and timely completion of projects within window and door products testing, by working with the customer to analyze project scope and determine project specifications, establish test programs for product investigations, and prepare reports for customers. Responsibilities Determine project scope, develop a preliminary plan of investigation, and determine project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing client input, available supplemental data, and product construction. Communicate with clients to discuss technical issues, explain UL procedures and requirements, convey project cost, and negotiate completion date and sample requirements. Provide technical assistance to clients in reference to product inspection and follow-up services. Establish appropriate test programs by reviewing files and manufacturer's information, examining samples, and applying UL requirements. Off-site manufacturer witness tests. Third Party Certification. Coordinate laboratory activities by preparing data sheets and instructions to technicians, scheduling and reviewing work of Laboratory Technicians and support staff and establishing completion dates. Coordinate administrative aspects of project management. Communicate project status and results to clients through frequent contact and by preparing reports. Resolve engineering issues associated with Variation Notices by analyzing and reporting on the acceptability of the variations. Propose development of new and/or revised UL requirements. Develop special test methods and test equipment. Coordinate and/or performs File Reviews. LI-Hybrid LI-ZK1 Qualifications University Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an ABET accredited program. 2-5 years of directly related work experience: window and door products (testing, laboratory) experience. Familiar with PAS 24, BS 6375-1, BS 6375-2, BS 6375-3. Understanding of Secure by Design (SBD). Familiar with Third Party Certification. Familiar with UKCA and CE Marks. Familiar with EN Test standards.
