The Role
The Design Engineer is responsible for the design and manufacture support of the products designed and manufactured. Day-to-day tasks include the design and evaluation of electro-mechanical parts, assemblies and firmware while providing support to the production team.
The Design Engineer’s responsibilities and duties include the following:
1. Work within the R&D team to design new systems, circuits and devices
2. Develop existing products and technologies
3. Test theoretical designs
4. Write technical documentation and compile technical files
5. Follow defined development processes
6. Integration design with other products
7. Maintain an appropriate working knowledge of medical standards including but not limited to IEC 60601-1 Ed 3; ISO 14971; IEC 62366; ISO 62304; ISO 13485 & FDA guidelines CFR 21
8. Ensure appropriate medical design and product regulations are applied
9. Test prototypes and analyse data
10. Attend meetings with subcontractors and clients
11. Keep up to date with developments in technologies and regulations
12. Prepare product or design reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends.
13. Flexibility to work in all departments as and when required to fulfil business needs.
The Candidate
1. Degree qualified in an electronic engineering field
2. Experience in electronics design, both Analogue and Digital
3. Firmware development
4. Knowledge of PIC & Atmel development using C is highly beneficial
5. Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems
