Join our team as a Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) and play a vital role in safeguarding children in Wiltshire.
As a LADO, you will offer professional consultation and advice to Senior Managers and key stakeholders on safeguarding policies and decision making. You will chair and coordinate complex multi-agency meetings to ensure that all allegations made against individuals working with children, whether in paid employment or voluntary roles, are reviewed and managed thoroughly and fairly.
Main duties of the job
This is a vital role for the service where you will also have the investigative oversight of the management of allegations, conduct thorough risk assessments in child protection cases, produce performance reports and lead on the development of risk management strategies in collaboration with stakeholders.
We are looking for a qualified Social Worker with a SWE registration and substantial experience in child protection and safeguarding legislation. This role requires candidates to possess strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively across agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of children.

Job responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
* To be the lead coordinating professional for all agencies with personnel in a position of trust applying legally compliant and proportionate intervention where allegations management processes are required.
* Development of awareness of and compliance with legislation, guidance and procedures relating to this work in all agencies.
* Advising on specific issues as per the LADO role set out in related guidance.
* Delivering training on allegations management to all agencies and organisations providing services to children from Wiltshire.
* Reporting to SVPP, workforce development subgroup and commissioners on services performance, developmental needs and areas of learning.
To lead, develop and coordinate a collaborative process of assessment and analysis, developing an agreed plan of intervention and deliver effective management strategies that focus on the paramount importance of child welfare protection within statutory definitions.
* Being responsible for resolving/advising on practice and procedural issues from other agencies.
* Ensuring compliance with national standards and guidance.
* Requesting, checking, coordinating and compiling statistical data.
* Liaising with operational staff and IT sections as necessary to improve practice and the availability of information.
* Managing notifications of people who may pose a risk of harm to children who are either identified within the LA area or have moved into the LA area.
* Ensuring systems are in place for managing requests for checks to be made to ensure unsuitable people are prevented from working with children.
Person Specification
Experience
* Substantial experience in child protection and safeguarding legislation.
* Strong leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively across agencies.
Qualifications
* Qualified Social Worker with a SWE registration.
* Relevant professional qualifications.
