Role Description
This role is based at our Smethwick facility with occasional support to our site in Oldbury. The ideal candidate would have a strong mechanical engineering background within a steel manufacturing industry and could hit the floor running. An effective team member but capable of working under their own initiative. Dependable, reliable and trustworthy. Must be able to carry out planned maintenance tasks and repairs to a high standard of workmanship. Be dynamic and experienced enough to have a good understanding of machinery and be able to logically fault find. Someone who is competent to work safely and has a good attention to detail. Duties would include planned maintenance and repairs of machinery, continuous improvements and project work, installation and relocation of new and existing equipment, repairs and maintenance to site facilities.
Required Skills
* Minimum of 5 years experience as a Maintenance Engineer/fitter within the steel industry
* Thorough understanding of mechanical fitting and maintenance practices.
* Experience in maintenance and repairs of hydraulic and pneumatic systems with the ability to fault find.
* Experience in preventive maintenance practices
* Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
Desired Skills
Experience of power press maintenance
Experience of steel process machinery (Guillotine, Press brakes, rolling mills)
Machining & fabricating skills
