1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant - Wolverhampton | Flexible Ad Hoc Work Location: Wolverhampton Role Type: Ad Hoc / Flexible Hours Position: 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Do you have the patience, dedication, and empathy to make a real difference in a child's educational journey outside of the traditional classroom? We are seeking compassionate and experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to provide 1:1 support to students in Wolverhampton who are currently not in mainstream school settings. These students have a range of additional needs including SEMH, MLD, SLD, PMLD, and behavioural needs. Key Responsibilities: Deliver high-quality 1:1 educational and emotional support to students in non-mainstream settings (e.g. home, community venues, alternative provisions). Interpret and implement EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) to ensure learning and support is tailored to each student's individual needs. Plan and deliver bespoke, engaging lessons appropriate to the learner's ability, interests, and educational targets. Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation through nurturing and consistent approaches. Work collaboratively with parents/carers, external professionals, schools, and SENCOs to ensure a joined-up approach to support. Track progress and contribute to regular reporting on each student's development and engagement. What We're Looking For: Experience working with children/young people with SEND, particularly SEMH and complex needs. Confidence in working independently and using initiative in non-traditional learning environments. Understanding of EHCPs and experience in planning lessons around individual learning outcomes. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with children, families, and professionals. A valid Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
