Role description:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Building Surveyor to join our established Technical Due Diligence & Building Surveying team.
The core responsibilities will largely relate to transactional based instructions across the UK with the opportunity to assist on pan-European projects also. However, the workload will be varied and include a mixture of technical advisory and some professional and heritage project work with flexibility potentially to accommodate the specific skill sets and aspirations of the applicant.
The successful candidate will be expected to be technically excellent and have a broad range and experience of commercial surveying including Technical Due Diligence (TDD) and Condition Surveys. Additionally, the candidate should be able to manage multiple instructions.
The job will involve a mixed and varied workload with often the need to balance a number of different instructions simultaneously.
The candidate will largely be focused on service delivery, often working as part of a larger commission team and supporting to achieve exceptional outcomes for our clients. The candidate should be confident in dealing direct with the client.
The candidate will be required to manage their time effectively to meet deadlines and ensuring time expended aligns with the cost forecast to ensure profitability of instructions, (financial performance responsibility).
Role accountabilities:
1. The key focus will be around TDD advice and reporting to identify key risks, the severity and quantification of these risks, along with recommendations for mitigation. The role includes predominantly Technical Due Diligence along with some professional work across a range of building types although largely commercial and with some heritage work.
2. The position includes a level of responsibility and accountability with an opportunity to develop managerial as well as technical knowledge and skills, and to progress within a successful and growing specialist team.
3. You will manage and undertake professional technical consultancy commissions including Technical Due Diligence, condition surveys and infrequently dilapidations and some projects etc.
4. You will effectively communicate ensuring all information is available for the successful implementation and completion of projects.
5. Liaise with the Project Managers and Team Leaders to ensure efficient financial control resulting in a cost effective service.
6. You will ensure the Sector Director has quantified information on the progress of each contract on a regular basis
7. Support with mentoring and supervising our junior building surveyors
Qualifications & Experience:
8. Degree in Building Surveying and practical work experience
9. Excellent technical ability.
10. Multi-discipline experience.
11. Ability to manage project risk.
12. Ability to be flexible to meet tight project deadlines.
13. Manage quality standards to ensure high quality output.
14. Understand the transaction process including requirements of funders.
15. Understanding of both technical and legislative requirements along with a good commercial awareness.
16. Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills enabling strong working relationships with clients
