SDUK's brands include the Nations favourite cheese brand Cathedral City plus other well-known butter & spreads (Clover, Country Life, Vitalite, Utterly Butterly), functional ingredients and dairy free products.
This role is at Wensleydale Creamery, a custodian of 1,000 years of Dale cheesemaking, with a mixture of modern and artisanal processes, using milk from local farms.
We are looking for an engineering & CAPEX manager to add value to the plant leadership team (PLT) and support the site director in the delivery of strategic and day-to-day objectives.
The site has multiple areas of responsibility, including the cheese factory, whey processing, a packaging plant, maturation and warehousing facilities, and the retail/visitor centre the only such facility across the entire SDUK landscape.
This position will have a primary focus on driving site performance improvements through development and delivery of the site maintenance and CAPEX project management, with a focus on continuous improvement (CI) opportunities as we strive for manufacturing best practice.
To support the initiatives, youll have responsibility for project governance, which will account for all statutory and regulatory requirements across the site.
As a leader of a stable and high-performing team, you will have responsibility to oversee the training and development of the engineering staff.
YOULL MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT MATTER BY
* Ensuring the plant, equipment, buildings and facilities are maintained to a standard that delivers an effective and safe operation by utilising and developing appropriate planned maintenance strategies and critical analysis.
* Ensuring all statutory and legal compliance is met on a day-to-day and long-term basis.
* Managing the sites capital plan and implementing a program of continuous improvement.
* Analysing site production data and performance to identify improvement priorities and opportunities.
* Managing, coaching, mentoring, and developing the team to address skill gaps through training and succession planning.
* Monitoring, leading, and controlling engineering capital projects, delivering these on-time and in-budget.
* Managing the legacy systems on site, ensuring robust risk management of automation and controls.
* Owning and implementing the lean manufacturing asset care pillar.
YOURE BEST SUITED FOR THE ROLE IF YOU ARE
* An experienced and qualified engineering leader with a demonstratable background within an FMCG/food manufacturing company.
* Able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of production processes and associated legal requirements within an FMCG environment.
* A change leader with a systematic thought process, with a proven background of leading and delivering relevant projects, including governance and budget control.
* A strong problem-solver, utilizing techniques such as LEAN, TPM, and/or CI principles and methodologies.
* Able to demonstrate excellent coaching and influencing skills, with the ability to motivate a team to deliver results.
* A strong focus on health & safety, food safety, with GMP and environmental knowledge.
