Healthwatch Hull Pashto Interpreter
The purpose of this role is to support Healthwatch by helping them gain access to community groups who may face health inequalities and issues but cannot ask for help due to a language barrier. Support Healthwatch gain the experiences of the local community and support improvement in health and social care services in Hull.
Healthwatch Hull are looking for people who are able to speak Pashto fluently.
Key Responsibilities:
* Help and support the Middle Eastern community within Hull.
* Help Healthwatch tackle issues in health and social care where the language barrier is affecting patients or potential patients.
* Support Healthwatch in meeting new community groups and gaining access to seldom heard people.
* Support local people whose first language is not English.
* Translate messages, live speeches, voice recordings, and documents into another language, with careful attention to providing proper context, meaning, tone, and technical wording.
Qualities and Skills:
* Be able to read, speak, and understand languages fluently or near fluently.
* Be empathetic.
* Have strong communication skills (written and verbal).
* Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
* Attention to detail.
* Edit and proofread text to accurately reflect language.
* Being able to drive and having access to a vehicle would be advantageous.
Time Commitment:
There is no minimum commitment required, but you have to be able to commit to one day a week at a minimum, and we would also recommend 5-10 hours per month to maximize the experience you will gain from this role.
Location:
You will be required to travel across Hull for this role.
