Job Description:
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The Glasgow and Clyde Adult Eating Disorder Service meets the complex needs of adults with moderate to severe eating disorders across GGC. It is a multidisciplinary service clinically led by psychology consisting of practitioners from psychiatry, clinical psychology, nursing, dietetics, and occupational therapy.
This is a full-time permanent post joining a well-established multidisciplinary specialist service with strong professional support from the Consultant Clinical Psychologist (Clinical Lead), two Senior Clinical Psychologists, a Clinical Associate in psychology and two Assistant Psychologists.
This is an exciting time to join this specialist service as the service is planning a series of strategic developments in line with the recent National Specification recommendations (Scottish Government 2024) and those from the BEAT ‘There’s no place like home report’ (BEAT 2024).
The post holder will provide a highly specialist clinical psychology approach within a team treating patients suffering from moderate to severe eating disorders across Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Responsibilities include assessment, formulation, treatment, and management of patients in individual and group settings.
Other key responsibilities include supervising and supporting the psychological assessment, treatment, and management provided by other clinical members of the team, and offering consultation, supervision, and training within the team. The post holder will also provide consultation and training to multidisciplinary staff working with individuals with eating disorders within community and inpatient settings across Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
The post holder will utilize research skills for audit, research, and service development and provide clinical and professional supervision to trainees undertaking Doctoral training. The post holder is required to work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
The post holder should be an HCPC registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with experience in adult mental health, gained via training or post-qualification experience.
They will provide clinical placements to a range of trainees, including those undertaking the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, therefore they will have completed, or be eligible for, formal training in the supervision of others that is recognized by the DClinPsy programme. Newly qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologists and those approaching qualification are welcome to apply.
They should demonstrate evidence of experience or interest in working with patients with eating disorders. The appointment will require travel through Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
