Main Purpose: \n\nTo be responsible for the shaping and delivery of the Home's Statement of Purpose, in accordance with relevant legislation and quality standards To manage the day-to-day operation of Home and the provision of quality care for looked after children, ensuring that all physical and emotional care needs of the children are met, Act as an advocate for the children's wellbeing, working in partnership with their families and other professionals and provide strong, motivational leadership and development for the staff team. \n\nMain Duties and Responsibilities\n\nDevelop and sustain effective working relationships between workers and the local community, colleagues and other agencies in order to promote collaborative working and partnerships and maximise positive outcomes for the children and their families.\nLead, line manage and motivate the team and individual workers to enhance performance and drive continuous improvement, including providing supervision, support, assessment, training, coaching and appraisal.\nManage the effective and efficient deployment of staffing, including leading on the recruitment and retention, working with human resources to ensure compliance with safer recruitment practices, and overseeing the preparation of rotas to monitor working hours.\nMaintain good communication and information systems and manage information exchange between the team, the organisation and other stakeholder to assist in making informed decisions. Ensure all information is held in accordance with Data Protection requirements.\nEstablish and sustain respectful, professional relationships with children and their families in order to build trust and enable information and guidance to be provided and received constructively; disengage from relationships appropriately.\nCo-ordinate and supervise the continuous assessment of the individual needs and circumstances of each child and young person and monitor and review support and care plans and service responses to ensure the most appropriate service provision.\nContribute to the implementation and evaluation of specific programmes, which provide a framework for the effective management of individual and group behaviour.\nMaintain an appropriate physical, social and emotional environment for group care which provides a safe, nurturing and stimulating surroundings for children and their families to be offered the support, care and guidance they need.
Ensure the physical condition of the building is maintained and any repairs are dealt with promptly.\nContribute to the promotion of the individual's health and social well being; ensure that the individual is able to maintain a positive sense of self and identity, and that they are supported in maximising their educational opportunities and achievements.\nTake lead responsibility for the Safeguarding and protection of children from abuse; evaluate risks and ensure that all matters regarding the care and management of young people are reported in line with in-house policy and procedure and statutory requirements.\nEnsure all clinical practices and medication processes within the Home are conducted in line with legislation.\nLead and drive a culture which promotes equality, diversity and individual rights and responsibilities, ensuring the provision of care which is sensitive to differing needs and where differences are respected and valued; develop, maintain and evaluate appropriate systems and structures.\nEngender a positive health and safety culture, including overseeing that risk assessments are undertaken and all checks completed regularly to comply with Health and Safety regulations and the Safeguarding Policy.\nEnsure compliance with the legal requirements relating to services, standing orders and financial regulations and the Company's financial and administrative systems.\nAssist with budget preparation and manage and control day-to-day expenditure to ensure financial parameters are maintained.\nWorking with the Director, take a key role in the strategic and business planning of the service and establish and lead the development of policies, procedures and implementation of quality assurance systems.\nEnsure all necessary documentation required by regulators is completed to a high standard and lead the Home through the inspection and other regulatory processes.\nSet high expectations of the team's practice, encouraging and supporting professional development, identifying training needs and working with human resources to tackle issues relating to poor performance or conduct.\nDevelop own knowledge, practice, resources and style of leadership which ensures open and participatory management and practice.\nCoordinate and participate in an out of hours on-call service.\nRepresent the Home positively and professionally at all times, acting as a role model for residents and team members.\nUndertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may from time to time be required by the Director or Responsible Individual (RI) of the Children's Home. \n\nThis job description is provided to assist the post holder to understand what his/her duties are and may be amended from time to time to meet the needs of the service.\n\nBarker Ross Group values diversity and promotes equality.
