Service Owner – Operational Applications Location: Hybrid – Minimum of 2 days per week in office at Tachbrook Park, Warwick Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Role: As the Service Owner – Operational Applications, you will be responsible for managing the estate of SaaS and on-prem products, ensuring the applications support the business as expected and incidents are managed according to vendor SLAs. Your portfolio will include critical operational applications such as SAP S/4HANA, Ortec, OBTC, Paragon, and other applications that support day-to-day operations. You will play a key role in driving continuous delivery of changes to enhance business performance, working with delivery partners and SaaS providers to influence product improvements. In addition, you will be responsible for identifying opportunities to simplify the application estate, optimise operational expenditure (OPEX), and streamline support models. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the operational performance of key applications (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, Ortec, OBTC, Paragon) to ensure that they meet business needs and vendor SLAs. Manage relationships with product vendors (e.g., SAP, Ortec), including contract management, issue escalation, and driving product improvement initiatives. Lead the continuous delivery of changes to enhance business performance and drive operational improvements across the application landscape. Identify opportunities to simplify the application estate and optimise OPEX. Oversee the OPEX budget for Operational Applications and collaborate with budget holders to plan optimisation strategies. Work closely with business teams, Back-office functions (Operations, Finance, People), and other application teams to ensure seamless customer experience and resolution of cross-portfolio application incidents. Implement agile delivery approaches and drive continuous improvement within the application portfolio. Work with the SHVE Integration Competency Centre and AMS vendors to resolve incidents and improve service delivery. Provide regular status reporting in line with cross-portfolio reporting cadence and KPIs. Key Skills, Experience, and Knowledge: Essential: Solid Experience in service delivery management within a complex SAP environment, particularly SAP S/4HANA. Strong Knowledge of the SAP product roadmap and emerging related technologies. Vendor Management Expertise, including contract negotiation, SLA tracking, relationship management, and escalation. Experience in Software Lifecycle & Release Management. Budget and Resource Management skills. Cross-Functional Team Management, with a proven ability to deliver on time, cost, and quality. Agile Delivery Management and workshop facilitation experience. Ability to manage complex vendor landscapes and deliver continuous improvements. Strong Collaboration and Communication Skills – able to work with internal and external stakeholders, including product vendors and service partners. Desirable: Experience within the Oil & Gas / Utility sector or Supply Chain Management. Configuration expertise in one or more SAP modules (SD, MM, PM, FICA, IS-Oil). Experience managing SAP SaaS products such as Ariba, Concur, and SAP FSM. Project Management experience, including managing multi-functional teams and agile delivery. Don’t Tick All the Boxes?
