We’re looking for a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor and Transport Planner. Based at our Capenhurst location, you’ll establish the management framework for the transport of Dangerous Goods in accordance with Statutory requirements. This will involve providing a specialised DGSA, transport planning and execution service for Enrichment Operations, Site Services, Engineering Services and a DGSA service to Chemical Process Operations to enable all business and customer requirements to be met in accordance with contract specification and all deliveries are made on time whilst ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
What you’ll do:
1. Responsible as the principal Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor for Enrichment Operations, Site Services, Engineering Services and Chemical Process Operations to advise on all operational and regulatory aspects of radioactive materials and dangerous goods transports to ensure all transports are fully compliant with the relevant UK and international regulations. Monitors compliance with the requirements governing the carriage of dangerous goods.
2. Accountable for managing the updates of Company procedures and transport compliance matrices relating to national and international radioactive materials transports to ensure that all Enrichment Operations, Site Services, Engineering Services processes are fully compliant with transport regulatory requirements.
3. Agrees and acts as the main point of contact for transport proposals with UEC and/or external transport companies and other URENCO sites. Manages and coordinates the use of Cylinder Related equipment and other equipment used in connection with the transport of Dangerous Goods.
4. Acts as the principal contact for Enrichment Operations, Site Services, Engineering Services and Chemical Process Operations with DESNEZ, ONR and HM Customs and Excise, for all Export and Import Licensing and Customs related matters.
5. Evaluates and authorises documentation required to perform national and international radioactive materials and dangerous goods transports to ensure that all deliveries are fully compliant with customer’s requirements and all applicable legislation.
6. Provides day-to-day supervision and guidance to the Site Services transport team to ensure that all transport related activities are prioritised and carried out accurately and in a timely manner. Provides awareness training to identified individuals involved in the provision of duties in the transport chain.
What do you need to thrive in this role?
1. Qualified as a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor.
2. Previous experience working within a highly regulated industry such as Chemical, Oil and Gas, or Nuclear.
3. Must hold recognised transport qualifications to consign radioactive materials and dangerous goods by road, sea and air and revalidate the qualifications as required.
4. Highly proficient in the use of SAP, Excel and other relevant software.
5. Excellent understanding of plant and transport operations with a broader understanding of Company and Group-wide processes and organisational roles, typically gained through several years of experience.
