The Role
Clinical Pharmacist, Cancer Care, NHS Lanarkshire
Band: 7, 37 hours/week. Applications for part time hours will be considered
Contract: Fixed term – 1 year (Maternity leave cover)
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic pharmacist to join the cancer pharmacy team delivering the highest quality pharmacy services across these areas within NHS Lanarkshire. The post holder will contribute to the development and delivery of the clinical pharmacy service in cancer care.
NHS Lanarkshire is the second largest health board in the West of Scotland Cancer Network and provides specialist cancer services for patients across the three acute sites (University Hospital Monklands, University Hospital Wishaw and University Hospital Hairmyres), treating oncology and haematology patients within out-patient, day-case and in-patient settings. You will join a supportive pharmacy team, and work closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team committed to the development of services to cancer patients. The post is based at University Hospital Wishaw. The cancer service in NHS Lanarkshire is distributed across all three hospital sites and thus the post holder will be expected to work in any of the three sites as required.
Applicants should have relevant post registration experience in hospital pharmacy and evidence of suitable post-registration professional development. Cancer experience is desirable but not essential and candidates will be fully supported through relevant training. You will be either an independent prescriber, undertaking the IP course or deemed as eligible to commence the IP course.

What we'll need you to bring
Masters of Pharmacy Degree
Registered member of General Pharmaceutical Council
Independent prescribing qualification or must work towards
Evidence of postgraduate training and professional development in clinical pharmacy practice e.g. Post Registration Foundation Framework/ 1st year clinical diploma
Relevant post registration experience in clinical pharmacy.
Ability to effectively monitor patients’ therapeutic regimens in order to ensure effectiveness and reduce toxicity
Ability to work effectively as part of a team, in a pharmacy and multi-disciplinary environment.
Commitment to revalidation as per directions of General Pharmaceutical Council
Good verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivation
Participation in weekends and public holiday service
Participation in pharmacy emergency duty service
Willingness to contribute to the general working of the pharmacy department
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also have
Continuing professional development as detailed by the General Pharmaceutical Council (mandatory)
Demonstrable experience in providing a clinical pharmacy service to a defined patient group
Experience in patient information/education
Experience in supervising staff
Proven project, practice research and audit skills
Ability to prioritise and organise workload
Contract type
Fixed Term or Secondment for 12 months
Full time - part-time hours will be considered.

Please note if this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.
Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

This role will be based in University Hospital Wishaw
The working pattern for this role Mon-Fri; 9:00-5:00
