ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE
Part of the $8bn ABM Industries group, ABM Aviation UK Ltd provides facilities management and other support services to the aviation sector. This includes cleaning, security, bussing, assisted travel and passenger services in the airport environment. Growth and diversification have opened up an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly organised bid writer to join our commercial team and support us in writing winning bids, proposals and presentations. Your key role will be persuasive and compelling bid writing and presentation, extending to some bid management responsibilities to support the current Bid Manager.
A hybrid role based at our Heathrow office and home-based, this fast-paced, varied role will see you join a growing team within a rapidly expanding organisation, offering excellent opportunities for advancement and career progression.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To play your part in winning new business within the commercial team in the creation of high-quality documents and presentations, working to exact deadlines and creating high quality winning proposals; to grow the business.
2. You will be expected to write compelling, succinct responses to customer PQQs, ITTs and RFPs using your strong command of English.
3. Write autonomously and knowledgeably about the range of services we offer, whilst incorporating the vision and values of the buyer.
4. Work within our bid governance process and work closely with members of the commercial team and subject matter experts.
5. Have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft’s collaborative working tools, supplemented by a positive attitude, flexibility and willingness to learn.
6. Speak to and work with many levels of management to write our specific proposition for each bid eloquently.
7. Be organised and reliable with a strong work ethic and an eye for detail.
8. This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys and excels at writing, in a fast-paced environment, who would like to develop their broader bid management capabilities.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Working individually and as part of the team to write, review and complete all, or specific parts of the bid’s technical responses in the required timeframes.
* Building positive internal relationships to collate and gather information in response to questions, writing accurate, succinct and persuasive narrative for the management and delivery of services.
* Organising layout and working within the confines of each customer’s bid requirements.
* Creating bespoke, on-brand, memorable documents and presentations.
* Assisting in maintenance of an up-to-date library of bid content inclusive of creating new content.
* Supporting with pre-tender related activity including researching industry/customer/competition trends.
* Liaising with regional operational teams to identify best practice and local successes to inform case study development.
* Carrying out relevant research to obtain information/details that enable written solutions to be developed.
* Supporting the current Bid Manager with bid management activity.
Essential
* Excellent written English and eloquent writing style.
* Proven, successful bid-writing experience from within the public or private sectors.
* Eye for detail.
* Strong work ethic.
* Ability to present information visually.
* Time management and planning.
* Ability to work well individually and as part of a team.
* Understanding of the bid management process.
* IT skills: Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Understanding of Microsoft Office styles and the application of consistent branding.
Desirable
* Shipley/APMP training or similar.
* Experience of bid writing in the transportation and/or relevant service sector.
* Keenness for problem solving and completing projects.
* Degree-educated or relevant qualification.
* Familiarity with: Publishing programmes such as InDesign, and Microsoft Excel, Microsoft SharePoint, Project, and Teams.
