We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Offshore Wind to lead our offshore wind division and drive the growth and execution of our offshore wind projects. As a key leadership role within our organization, the Head of Offshore Wind will oversee the full lifecycle of offshore wind farm development, from planning and design to construction, operations, and maintenance. This role will require strategic oversight, project leadership, stakeholder management, and operational excellence to ensure the success and sustainability of our offshore wind initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of the offshore wind sector, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record in managing large-scale renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement the overall strategy for the company’s offshore wind portfolio, aligning with company goals and industry trends.
Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities within the offshore wind market, ensuring long-term growth and profitability.
Lead the formulation and execution of long-term plans for offshore wind projects, considering market dynamics, regulatory changes, and technological advancements.
Project Development & Execution:
Oversee the full lifecycle of offshore wind farm projects, including site selection, feasibility studies, permitting, engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
Work closely with internal teams and external contractors to manage the successful design and delivery of offshore wind infrastructure, including turbines, substations, and transmission systems.
Financial Management:
Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models for offshore wind projects.
Secure project financing, investment partners, and other funding sources in collaboration with the finance team.
Optimize project profitability through cost management, risk mitigation, and performance monitoring.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of project managers, engineers, and offshore specialists.
Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the offshore wind division.
Collaborate with other departments, including engineering, legal, procurement, and health & safety, to ensure seamless project delivery.
Stakeholder & Regulatory Engagement:
Act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, including government authorities, regulators, investors, and industry bodies.
Manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and local communities, ensuring stakeholder expectations are met or exceeded.
Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes, industry trends, and best practices to ensure compliance and capitalize on market opportunities.
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Leadership:
Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all HSE regulations and standards in offshore environments.
Implement best practices in environmental sustainability, minimizing the impact of projects on marine ecosystems and ensuring responsible operations.
Skills & Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is desirable.
Experience:
10+ years of experience in renewable energy, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the offshore wind sector.
Proven track record in managing large-scale offshore wind projects from inception through to operations.
Experience working with regulatory bodies, financing institutions, and government authorities in the energy sector.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership capabilities with a focus on team development, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.
Project Management: Excellent project management skills, with experience in delivering complex infrastructure projects on time and within budget.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of offshore wind technology, including turbine installation, subsea cabling, and marine operations.
Financial Acumen: Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, and investment analysis.
Communication: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels.
Problem Solving: Analytical mindset with the ability to foresee risks, identify solutions, and make strategic decisions.
