The Endoscopy department at University Hospitals of Derby & Burton NHS Foundation Trust currently has 3 endoscopy units across 3 of our sites:
* Sir Robert Peel - 2 Rooms
And delivery over 30,000 procedures annually, all sites are currently JAG accredited.
We have a dedicated Clinical Lead for endoscopy along with a Clinical training lead.
Endoscopy at RDH performs ERCP, EUS, capsule endoscopy, and complex EMR procedures. We have a dedicated ERCP procedure room, provide an emergency inpatient endoscopy list 365 days a year, and have a dedicated endoscopy nurse on call rota.
Main Duties of the Job
These exciting newly appointed roles will include backfilling cancelled endoscopy sessions (5 per week along with 2 training sessions) but we will also encourage specialised training for endoscopic procedures such as complicated EMRs and EUS.

Job Responsibilities
This post will be based at the Royal Derby Hospital campus and is designed to support the activities of the endoscopy department across all 3 sites and acquire specialist advanced endoscopy training. The post-holder will work alongside a variety of Consultant Gastroenterologists and GI Surgeons and will be responsible to the clinical lead in Endoscopy.
This is a one-year post specifically intended for registrars (or equivalent) approaching their CCST or immediate post CCST (or equivalent), and wishing to expand their endoscopy/research experience and undertake further training in therapeutic and advanced colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS and as such is most suited to those reaching the end of their specialist training in gastroenterology. As the candidate will be conducting service endoscopy sessions independently they will need to have achieved competency in diagnostic upper and lower GI endoscopy. Experience in capsule endoscopy reporting and common therapeutic endoscopic procedures is also desirable but not essential. It would also be suitable however for anyone with sufficient endoscopic experience e.g., staff grades in gastroenterology.
The appointee will be expected to undertake 5 service endoscopy lists and 2 training lists in either ERCP, EUS, or advanced colonic polypectomy (EMR). Appointees will be expected to identify a training requirement at interview (i.e., undertake 12 months training in either ERCP, EUS, or advanced colonic polypectomy (EMR).

Qualifications
* MBBS / MBChB
* MRCP or equivalent
Clinical Experience
* Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
* Year 3 (and above) Specialist Trainee in Gastroenterology or equivalent
* Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice
* ALL sections of the application form FULLY completed
Clinical Skills and Knowledge
* Full JETS certification in colonoscopy
* Experience in making clinical decisions & managing risk
Clinical Governance / Improving Patient Care
* Evidence of interest & experience in undergraduate & postgraduate teaching
* Evidence of active participation in audit
