Crisis & Home Treatment Team

The team offers a 24/7 service, where practitioners are expected to work shift patterns to cover this. The three main shift patterns are early 8 am-4 pm, late 1:30 pm-9:30 pm, and night shifts 8:30 pm-8:30 am. We aim to promote staff wellbeing by offering an option of a mixture of long and short days or 3 long days.
Main duties of the job
We currently have vacancies for Band 6 CPNs due to exciting service development & expansion. This provides an opportunity for an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse/Community Psychiatric Nurse to support and further develop our expanding Crisis Home Treatment Team. The post holder will work with a full Multi-Disciplinary Team to develop and provide a range of support to patients and their relatives. The successful candidates will need to be able to work effectively at a range of levels and situations. The post holder will require enthusiasm for service development and the ability to work with a complex and changing service; therefore, excellent communication and leadership skills are required.
Wolverhampton Crisis Home Treatment Team provides a service to a diverse multi-cultural population. The service is committed to delivering high-quality safe care to service users with acute mental health symptoms. The team provides intensive levels of support to prevent hospital admissions and to facilitate early discharge. The service currently operates 24/7 365 days a year; therefore, night shifts, weekends, and bank holidays will be part of the shift pattern.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To contribute to effective multi-professional working with the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team and the service generally. Specifically, this requires flexibility in working practices and a willingness to acquire familiarity with all areas of the Team’s work. This will involve advising and taking advice from colleagues in order to provide a well-integrated and rapid service.
To be able to advise on issues relating to medication, to administer or supervise the taking of medication as appropriate, and to offer advice to other members of the team on medication and other health issues.
Person specification
Essential criteria
* Education/Qualification: RMN, current registration, evidence of continued development
* Experience: managing acute mental illness, previous B5 post, case management, strong clinical leadership, audit processes, MDT working, supervision
* Knowledge: Mental Health Act, Mental Health/Diagnosis, Risk Assessment, Capacity/DolS/Infection Control
* Skills/Personal Qualities: Interpersonal skills, willingness for professional development, ability to manage emergency situations, self-motivated
* Trust Vision: be caring, enabling, working together, integrity
