Job Description:
My client is one of the UK’s leading design manufacturers of MHE. They’re a family-run company, producing materials handling equipment for the automotive and manufacturing industries for over fifty years. Due to continued growth, they now require an Estimator & CAD Draughtsperson.
Day-to-day:
1. Analyse customer requirements to prepare accurate estimate bids, ensuring timely submission of documents and budgets.
2. Collaborate with engineers and designers to understand design requirements and provide technical advice to manufacturing technicians.
3. Calculate costs and apply knowledge of materials and engineering principles to check the feasibility of manufacture and construction.
4. Liaise with customers, external suppliers, subcontractors, and design teams to ensure accuracy of information and quotations.
5. Estimate fabrication times, working with the production team to ensure appropriate methodologies and efficiencies.
6. Create high-quality detailed technical drawings and plans, modify existing drawings, and ensure compliance with industry and health and safety standards.
7. Use SolidWorks/AutoCAD CAD software to create 2D and 3D models, ensuring value engineering in product design.
8. Participate in project meetings to ensure timely and budget-compliant project delivery, addressing any production issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
1. Relevant steel estimating experience, ideally in materials handling.
2. Proficient in creating and understanding engineering drawings/work specifications with a good knowledge of CAD.
3. Commercial awareness with a good understanding of industry standards.
4. Excellent computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
5. Strong time management, multitasking, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
6. Ability to collaborate closely with all stakeholders, ensuring effective communication to meet production schedules.
7. Willingness to travel and perform client/site visits as required.
8. Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong team player.
