Quality Control Specialist, based at Broughton, N Wales
To support our continued growth, Boccard are looking for an experienced QC Specialist to work at our fully digital manufacturing plant in Broughton. The QC Specialist is responsible for carrying out analysis on production data and using root cause analysis and fault finding techniques to help continuous improvement of Boccard’s processes. You will be proficient in the suite of Microsoft applications including Word and Excel to create lifetime records (LTR’s) to support the manufacture of fabrications and pipework for the UK’s Nuclear New Build (NNB) sites. Successful candidates will be required to develop, foster and promote a quality culture with the client of operational satisfaction.
Key responsibilities
Documentation and Reporting:
1. Feed data gathered during audits, manufacturing output, NCR’s and quality observations into weekly and monthly quality meetings.
2. Final review of all fabrication and assembly documentation before submission to the client.
3. Issue any Quality documents required by client to Document Control for approval/review.
4. Collate and keep up to date SQEP Files for HPSL Personnel – issue to client if required by contract/client.
Compliance and Standards:
1. Ensure that the Project Quality Plan / Inspection Test Plan is written in-line with the project requirements and is being effectively implemented and shared with relevant managers.
2. Review quality documentation, LTRs & final certification packages in accordance with contract requirements.
3. Review calibration and test equipment for compliance with company & contract requirements.
4. Maintain the approved suppliers listing and request any documentation that may have expired.
5. Review and record all Quality questionnaires and supporting documents for additional suppliers and subcontractors wishing to be added to the HPSL ‘Approved Supplier Listing’.
Coordination and Communication:
1. Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, clients etc., and attending meetings where appropriate.
2. Liaise with sub-contractors and ensure all documentation runs concurrently with the project requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
1. Review fabrication data to analyse data to target improvement areas.
2. Analyse non-conformance reports to establish if corrective actions have been successful.
3. Carry out in-house audits on proven mature procedures and processes.
4. Conduct audits of the works and Projects Quality System, including sub-contractors and supplier systems where appropriate. Issue NCRs where applicable and ensure that they are addressed in a timely manner.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Ideally degree qualified in an Engineering subject.
2. Significant and demonstrable experience of working in a highly regulated industry (Aerospace, Rail or Nuclear).
3. Lead Auditors qualification e.g. CQI and IRCA certified qualifications to ISO 9001:2015; Lean Six Sigma qualification would be beneficial.
4. CSWIP 3.1 minimum or PCN L2 welding inspection would be advantageous.
5. Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing; fluent in the English language.
6. Analytical mindset with a good eye for detail.
7. Must be a collaborative team player.
