Internal Lab Consumables Sales Specialist
The Opportunity:
The Internal Lab Consumables Sales Specialist is responsible for increasing revenue and profit with the final objective of achieving EBITDA targets as set, and supporting the field based Business Development and Account Management Teams, in achieving sales & margin targets for VWR UK Lab Consumables business.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Consistently achieve IOP for sales and margin in our Life Science portfolio
2. Proactive selling of the product ranges including cross selling other products and services
3. Provide technical product support to customers and VWR colleagues
4. Create, negotiate and follow up quotations
5. Source new products and manage the market source/TPP workflow
6. Participate in tenders, and large product lists for quotation to find products and answer technical requirements
7. Establish relationships with suppliers to ensure the best technical and price support for VWR
8. Provide Manager with up to date reports on sales activities and issues
9. Send samples when requested from customers or through quotations or tenders
10. Order, register and follow up demo products according to the demo unit management process
11. Send out catalogues, brochures, promotions & manage through Athena
12. Liaise with local, Regional & European counterparts within the Lab Consumables business teams and marketing teams
13. Participate in supplier trainings and meetings
14. Develop and follow up on ZPSP request opportunities with suppliers and the internal ZPSP workflow
15. Create and follow up new product code set up via ZMMDESEIGN
16. Support the sales teams with marketing campaigns
17. Monitor competitors and market trends within dedicated product portfolios and build market intelligence
18. Participate in customer visits, exhibitions, events and other marketing activities if and when required
19. Support your manager in developing a sales forecasts for your portfolio of products as and when required
20. Updating all relevant customer interactions on our CRM system C4C
21. Regular communication with the local sales organisation, highlighting the performance of the product portfolio
22. In conjunction with Manager sets own goals and takes ownership of same as per VWR PMP process
23. Participation in local sales training and meetings
24. Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience & Certifications)
1. Degree level qualification essential (Science and/or Business discipline)
2. Previous external/internal sales experience required
3. Proven track record in achieving targets
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)
1. Good product knowledge, ability to learn quickly and maintains updated knowledge of products and market
2. Self motivated, focused & driven individual who can handle rejection positively
3. Strong negotiations skills
4. Strong commercial understanding and knowledge of the market, the competition within and pricing and discount structures
5. Passion in liaising with internal and external customers and suppliers/manufacturers, a strong team player
6. In depth knowledge of procurement, both strategically and operationally, sourcing, market analysis, cost analysis, contract negotiation and supplier performance level service agreements/performance metrics
7. Keen awareness of profitability metrics and steps to maximise same
8. Excellent time management and multi tasking capabilities
9. Self starter, proactive individual, works on own initiative with minimal supervision
10. Confident in own decision making abilities
11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
12. Team player, can deputise for colleagues when required
13. IT Literate, proficient in the use of C4C, Qlickview, and MS Office applications
