This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to develop their leadership and clinical skills in a community setting. As a core member of the team, you will also be responsible for your own caseload. You will demonstrate excellent assessment and analysis skills, interpersonal, communication, and team working skills. You will need to be committed to working collaboratively with a range of statutory and third sector agencies.
Applicants require 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework.
Main duties of the job
The role is split into two parts:
1. The SPA mental health clinician
2. The monitoring of antipsychotic medication
The SPA mental health clinician would be able to offer specialist mental health advice, support, and education to the services within the SPA and wider partners. The clinician would attend the SPA MDTs as needed and be able to accept work on behalf of TEWV and liaise with the relevant teams. The clinician would also be able to take work from TEWV into the SPA and discuss for action. The mental health clinician would use and build on existing relationships with services involved in SPA and attend meetings within SPA to represent mental health services at TEWV. The mental health clinician would be able to provide training to services involved within the SPA. The mental health clinician would work with SPA to continuously review and evaluate the services offered. This is not an exhaustive list of the role of the mental health clinician.
The second part of the role is to monitor patients who are prescribed antipsychotic medication and are residing in care homes. They will support the medics in reviewing patients and where possible look at de-prescribing. The reviews are held every 6 weeks in line with NICE guidance.
