Our client school in Pilling is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEMH Support Assistant to join their team in September 2024. As an SEMH Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting and facilitating the educational and social development of our students with special needs and challenging behaviours.
Responsibilities:
1. Support in delivering pre-planned effective and inclusive sessions that cater to the diverse needs of students with SEMH.
2. Adapt resources to accommodate individual learning styles and abilities.
3. Create a supportive and nurturing classroom environment that fosters academic progress, emotional well-being, and positive behavior.
4. Collaborate with other teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff to develop individualised Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and implement strategies for student progress.
5. Regularly assess and track student progress and behaviour, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
6. Establish strong communication channels with parents, guardians, and external professionals involved in the care and education of students with SEND.
7. Stay updated with the latest educational practices, policies, and developments in the field of special educational needs, integrating them into your teaching approach.
About the school
This SEMH Support Assistant role is an opportunity to work in an incredibly welcoming school with some wonderful young people. The school works with students aged 11-18 up to a maximum of 8 students with most students working on KS2 to KS4 curricula.

To be considered for the role of SEMH Support Assistant you will:
8. Be able to commute to Pilling on a full-time basis.
9. Specialisation or experience in supporting students who have experienced trauma..
10. Strong knowledge of different teaching strategies, interventions, and resources for SEMH students.
11. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
12. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with SEMH needs.
13. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students in an ever-changing educational environment.

Salary
£103 per day.
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:

15. Desirable to hold a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
16. Due to the rural location of the school, candidates must be able to drive to access the role.
