Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term for 12 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier. We are seeking an experienced and motivated candidate to lead our Harassment and Violence Support Service in the provision of specialist, impartial advice, emotional and practical support and policy guidance to students within the collegiate University who have been subjected to any form of sexual harassment/violence, domestic abuse or any form of racial harassment, discrimination or violence. The Head will be responsible for the oversight, development and delivery of the Service; leading the team to ensure students receive a confidential, responsive and reliable service in the provision of trauma-informed, individualised and impartial support for all matters relating to sexual harassment/violence, domestic abuse and racial harassment, discrimination and violence. The Head will be responsible for leading on the continued embedding of the role of the Racial and Religious Discrimination Adviser. This will involve service development and implementation, communications with stakeholders and ongoing work to ensure the effective provision of the service. You will work across the University and the Colleges and will forge partnerships with external agencies to influence, develop and enhance the support available to students. The Service will also provide advice and support to staff members supporting a student in matters relating to sexual harassment/violence, domestic abuse and racial and religious harassment, discrimination and violence. The post holder will be responsible for leading the University's prevention and support agenda for sexual harassment/violence and domestic abuse. They will lead activities/programmes to develop institution-wide best practice resources to support prevention, early intervention and cultural change in the area of sexual harassment/violence and domestic abuse, including working with stakeholders to design, co-create, coordinate and deliver training/workshops for students and staff. A key focus of the role this year will be continuing the work of embedding, monitoring, and evaluating initiatives related to E6, the Office for Students' condition of registration on harassment and sexual misconduct. The ideal candidate will have significant experience of working in a service to deliver 1:1 support, advice and guidance to adults who have experienced sexual violence/domestic abuse and racial discrimination, harassment and violence. The role holder will have an accredited Independent Sexual Violence Advisers (ISVA) qualification or equivalent qualification/experience, and will be well-versed in assessing risk, with knowledge of relevant legislation and UK legal processes. Utilising excellent interpersonal and communications skills, the role holder will have a warm and empathic style and an ability to build trust and credibility with students. Emotional resilience, establishing clear boundaries and the ability to work calmly under pressure will be key attributes of the role. The post holder will need to be aware of the collegiate University in which this Service is being delivered and operate within this context. This is a one-year maternity cover post based primarily in central Cambridge, but we are open to a discussion regarding hybrid working arrangements.
