Job Title: Chef

Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Chef to join our care home team and take responsibility for preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals that cater to the dietary needs and preferences of our residents. You will play a key role in ensuring that meals are not only healthy and delicious but also meet any medical or cultural dietary requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, prepare, and cook wholesome meals for residents in accordance with nutritional guidelines and individual dietary needs.
* Ensure all meals are presented to a high standard and served in a timely manner.
* Monitor food stock levels and place orders in line with budget requirements.
* Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen at all times, adhering to health and safety regulations.
* Keep accurate records of temperature checks, food storage, and cleaning schedules.
* Work closely with care staff to ensure that residents’ individual dietary requirements (e.g. soft food, diabetic meals, allergies) are met.
* Assist in creating menus that offer variety, seasonal options, and cater to special occasions.
* Supervise and support kitchen assistants and other catering staff when required.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Chef or Cook, preferably in a care home or healthcare setting.
* Food Hygiene Level 2 (Level 3 preferred) or equivalent.
* Knowledge of nutritional needs of older adults and individuals with specific dietary requirements.
* Strong understanding of allergen management, portion control, and food safety standards.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
