DESCRIPTION
Amazon Travel and Events (AT&E) Organisation is seeking a highly motivated Travel and Events Sustainability Manager to lead our sustainability initiatives. This strategic role involves defining and executing Amazon's Travel and Events sustainability program, aligned with the Climate Pledge commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. The candidate will develop overall strategy and guide teams internally and externally to meet program goals, challenging the status quo as needed.
This global role manages multiple large-scale projects to embed sustainability best practices across Amazon's businesses. The ideal candidate will have a mindset of continuous improvement, stay updated on industry trends, and understand sustainability regulations, reporting, and governance. Knowledge of business travel and events, including technology and data ecosystems, is essential.
Effective communication skills are crucial for articulating strategies and results across various levels. The role combines strategic thinking with tactical execution to drive measurable sustainability outcomes, shaping Amazon's travel and events sustainability efforts.
Key job responsibilities
1. Develop and implement a T&E sustainability program aligned with Amazon's Climate Pledge to reach net-zero by 2040.
2. Lead multiple global projects from inception to completion, collaborating with subject matter experts across divisions.
3. Establish and pursue short and long-term sustainability goals with relevant teams.
4. Manage scope 3.6 carbon data assurance, footprint documentation, and emissions data methodology.
5. Create data-driven solutions for decarbonization tracking and achievement.
6. Prepare and deliver executive communications, including Amazon 6-pagers, press releases, and FAQs.
7. Raise awareness of travel's environmental impacts and promote lower-carbon options.
8. Drive supply chain sustainability initiatives for low-carbon employee travel and events.
9. Communicate sustainability vision and motivate stakeholders.
10. Lead and coach team members, fostering career development.
11. Monitor industry best practices and innovations.
12. Manage vendor relationships ensuring service excellence.
13. Coordinate with global sustainability teams and integrate sustainability into company policies.
14. Create employee engagement campaigns and develop internal communications to promote initiatives.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* 5+ years' experience in travel and/or events sustainability.
* Strong organizational skills for complex environments.
* Experience with carbon data reporting and industry methodologies.
* Understanding of business travel, meetings, events operations, and supply chain technology.
* Ability to work independently.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* MBA or CPA preferred.
* Knowledge of SQL/ETL.
* Experience with data quality issues and root cause analysis.
* Proven ability to solve complex business challenges with financial models and analysis.
* Experience with large-scale data tools (SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and financial systems (Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
* Forecasting, budgeting, and data interpretation skills.
