We are currently working on behalf of a leading M&E contractor in the North East, who is looking for an enthusiastic mechanical supervisor/site manager to become part of their growing team. They provide mechanical installation, maintenance, and service solutions to various sectors, including industrial, commercial, and residential.
Role Overview:
As a Mechanical Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing mechanical teams on-site, ensuring all mechanical systems and installations are completed to the highest standards, on time, and in compliance with relevant regulations. This is a hands-on, site-based role, requiring effective leadership, problem-solving, and the ability to manage day-to-day activities on large-scale mechanical projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise and manage the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, plant equipment, etc.)
2. Ensure all mechanical work adheres to project specifications, building codes, and health & safety regulations
3. Lead, motivate, and develop the mechanical team, offering technical support and guidance as needed
4. Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, quality of work, and safety compliance
5. Liaise with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and resolve any on-site issues
6. Manage the day-to-day operations of mechanical works, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget
7. Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and any issues encountered
8. Oversee the preparation and submission of reports on project status, quality checks, and team performance
Required Skills and Experience:
1. Proven experience in mechanical supervision, ideally in industrial or commercial sectors
2. In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, installations, and related regulations
3. Strong leadership and team management skills
4. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
5. Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
6. Strong knowledge of health, safety, and quality standards (e.g., HSE, ISO)
7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
8. SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme)
