Activity Leader - February - Wokingham, Berkshire
Hours of work: 08:30 – 17:30
Salary: £412.00 – £559.17 salary per week dependant on age, internal/external experience, and qualifications.
Reportable to: Camp Senior Team, Area Manager and Central Office
Barracudas is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
Activity Leader contracts are based on a minimum of 4 days per week. You will have an allocated day off each week, confirmed by your Recruiter/Camp Manager. While the contract is based on a minimum of 4 days, there may be a requirement to work the full 5 days depending on booking numbers and staffing requirements.
*Easter and May half term contracts will be based on 3-day weeks, where the operating week is 4 days due to bank holiday. You will be assigned a day off as detailed above.
ACTIVITY LEADER DUTIES
* Assist with the setup and maintain a suitable base room area that is inviting for the children while ensuring it is kept tidy and all equipment is packed away.
* Follow policies and procedures to ensure the children in your care have fun in a safe environment.
* Follow the prepared activity timetable each day to deliver the variety of activity sessions that Barracudas promises.
* Work with the wider staff team to deliver sessions.
* Ensure that the needs of the children in your care are met with active supervision and attention throughout the day, including breaks and lunch times.
* Use the resources available to plan and deliver a variety of activities that are age-appropriate.
* Encourage maximum participation of the children in the group.
* Get to know the children in your group as individuals and incorporate their interests into their day on camp.
* Take responsibility for general welfare and safeguarding.
* Ensure the safe use of equipment provided for your sessions and that it is packed away appropriately.
REQUIREMENTS
* Experience or qualifications working with children.
* Aged 18 or over by the start date of your contract.
* Eligible to work in the UK.
* Provide satisfactory professional/academic references.
* Enthusiastic, caring, and organized with excellent communication skills and able to use initiative.
* Able to adapt to effectively deal with unpredictable challenges within a childcare setting.
* Obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or have an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
* Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
* Complete Online Training annually.
* Attend Induction Training Day ahead of your first working season.
* Assist with pack up at the end of camp.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
* Ensure that the company fulfills all its Health and Safety obligations.
* Organize and deliver activities appropriate for the children in your care.
* Encourage participation in new activities and ensure the activity programme is followed.
* Ensure the children under your supervision behave safely and communicate daily about codes of behaviour.
* Follow all camp systems, including registration and collection procedures.
* Be a positive role model by promoting a healthy lifestyle and good hygiene.
* Report any concerns regarding Child Protection to your Senior Team or a Designated Person.
* Make reasonable adjustments for children in your group with additional needs.
* Support swimming sessions if required.
* Be prepared to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role.
