Responsibilities
* Acting as an expert resource for children, young people and their families and care givers, both lay and professional, on the treatment and nursing management of cancer, and facilitate the education of staff concerning paediatric oncology and symptom management in partnership with the oncology team.
* To facilitate provision of 24-hour care and treatment for all children and young people with cancer who require admission to hospital or specialist day care treatment. This care will be based on evidence, safe, timely and appropriate to the individual child/young person, and will be delivered in an appropriate setting by appropriately trained staff.
* The postholder will provide nursing expertise in the specialist field of Paediatric oncology, working in partnership with internal and external agencies. She/He is an integral member of the Oncology team but does work independently under the supervision of the CNS, implementing care plans and making decisions within guidelines.
