Head of Legal Services and Deputy Monitoring Officer
Job Introduction
The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority is seeking to appoint a Head of Legal Services and Deputy Monitoring Officer to join the Legal team. Your key responsibilities in this role would be to ensure a focus on delivering the priorities of the Metro Mayor by:
* Acting as the Deputy Monitoring Officer and providing sound and timely legal and governance advice to officers, members, and the mayor.
* Providing holistic advice across the full range of legal, statutory, and due diligence issues, procuring and managing specialist external legal resources where required.
* Managing the legal services and information governance teams, allocating responsibilities across the team, and supporting the Director in the development and evolution of the authority’s legal and governance functions.
* Presenting (and assisting others in presenting) complex information, legal or statutory considerations, and strategic advice to the corporate leadership team, Metro Mayor, and other key meetings or stakeholders.
* Providing expert guidance and support on internal and external governance controls, consultation, engagement, and decision-making processes, ensuring all considerations are planned for and actioned correctly and in a timely manner.
