We are working with an established forwarder who is recruiting for a Trainee Airfreight Export Clerk.
Training will be given in all areas. Working with the Airfreight Export team, the focus initially will be on the Healthcare & BFPO operation, and long term is to cover all aspects of the business including Imports and Exports across all verticals.
Role involves:
1. Working within the Export Department and being a team player.
2. Working within a joint email box.
3. Taking on new shipments.
4. Completing Export Customs Entries.
5. Dealing with collections.
6. Completing HAWB and MAWB & IATA files.
7. Supporting the Supervisor.
8. Administration tasks for the other departments where needed (Filing, Scanning, invoice queries).
9. Learning all aspects of the BFPO account and completing the day-to-day operational tasks.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities will include:
1. Be committed to excellent service quality.
2. Liaising with overseas branches and internal customers.
3. Dealing with internal and external customers on a day-to-day basis.
4. Liaising with all new and regular customers on all queries and issues through regular contact by telephone.
5. Taking all incoming calls and emails from customers for new bookings using appropriate documentation.
6. Ensuring any special requirements or instructions are clearly specified.
7. Ensuring accurate accruals and cost accuracy.
8. Accuracy and timelines of documentation (HAWB/MAWB) ensuring processing meets KPI requirements.
9. Reviewing all customer instructions ensuring these are understood and followed.
10. Ensuring full understanding and strict compliance to customs processes and procedures.
11. Accurate and timely management of all mandatory milestone data.
12. Understanding of the airfreight product including Incoterms.
13. Responding to customer booking and overseas agents requests.
14. Researching and providing competitive quotations to both internal and external customers and following up to ensure good success rate.
15. Entering HM Customs entry procedures (NES).
16. Raising sales invoices accurately within agreed KPI timescales.
17. Developing effective relationships and negotiating with carriers and overseas agents.
18. Daily/weekly admin duties, filing, ETSF inventory checks/audits.
19. Complying with all relevant work and safety legislation, standards, organizational procedures, and UK security regulations.
20. Supporting on month-end finance.
21. To fully understand and be conversant with the standard operating procedures.
About you:
The ideal candidate will be educated in Maths and English (oral and written) to GCSE, Standard Grade, or equivalent; grade A-C and be able to demonstrate highly competent computer skills in all areas of Microsoft Office.

Salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience. Monday to Friday 9am-5.30pm. Due to location, car driver preferred.
