As part of Legal and Democratic, you will support the council's democratic decision-making processes, supporting and advising the council, its committees, sub-committees, working groups, scrutiny panels, and other bodies. Your duties will also include assisting with the organisation of council elections and supervising a small team dealing with a wide range of democratic and administrative duties.
An HNC/SVQ Level 3, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline, is essential together with considerable experience of committee work in a local government or similar environment. You will have a professional approach and the ability to act as Clerk to a Committee with a sound knowledge of the law and practice relating to council decision-making processes, with knowledge of local authority operations and administrative procedures.
Good communication, interpersonal, organisational, and motivational skills are essential. Supervisory experience is desirable.
You will be joining a dynamic and flexible team who currently operate a hybrid model of home-working and office-based work at the Civic Centre offices in Motherwell.
