Booth Welsh are looking for an obsolescence engineer support resource for the Equipment Reliability team at Heysham Power Station.
Predominantly on-site role. This is likely to be at least 4 days a week with preference for full 5 days at station, however there could be flexibility in this, particularly if the individual already had experience in station and obsolescence processes.
This role would most suit a C&I engineer with experience in managing obsolescence projects, or someone with safety case experience.
As the station nears end of life, many components are obsolete.
There is a defined fleet process for identifying and prioritising obsolescence issues at the station, but support is required to enact this process on station.
Responsibilities include:
1. Identification of obsolete components and justification of suitable replacements.
2. Working with System Engineers and gathering data from AMS to identify potential obsolescence issues.
3. Managing the Preventative Obsolescence Management System (POMS) database.
4. Identifying suitable replacement components and justifying their use within the Modification Process.
5. Item Equivalency Evaluation, Engineering Change, etc.
6. Prioritising obsolescence issues through risk analysis.
7. Making the work of the obsolescence programme visible through station communications.
8. Providing support to the station obsolescence working group.
9. Management of obsolescence metrics.
10. Liaising with the Fleet on the subject of obsolescence.
