Role: QSHE Manager
Salary: Dependent on Experience
Located: Doncaster
Hours: 45 Hours per week
Our client is looking for a QSHE Manager who will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Quality, safety, health and environmental regulations, and in promoting sustainability initiatives across their sites in Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley.
The role:
Health and Safety:
* Ensure high level of SHE visibility at all sites, Maintain certification to ISO 14001, 45001 and manage ISO assessments, ensuring non conformances are closed in a timely manner.
* Design and implement all policies, statements, system of works, safety procedures and audits for Health & Safety and Environmental management as required by Legislation including relevant documentation.
* Provide authoritative guidance on Health & Safety matters to all stakeholders, Engage all staff to develop co-operation and commitment to improving safety
* Ensure robust analysis and reporting regimes are in place for Health and Safety statistics and Provide safety related information and statistics with recommendations for improvement.
* Undertake Health, Safety project work, effectively plan the scope of works, identify key stakeholders and develop timeline plans to facilitate the on-time delivery.
* Conduct health and safety inspections and prepare reports of all the company’s operations, Ensure investigations into all accidents and near-miss incidents are conducted and recorded with findings and improvement actions documented.
* Highlight areas where training/certification is required to meet the standards imposed by Legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, or H.S.E. guidance.
* Elect and set up Health & Safety representative meetings in conjunction with Warehouse/Transport Managers
* Conduct /organise relevant health & safety training for all logistics/warehouse staff as required i.e. Manual handling, First Aid and Fire Safety, co-ordinating representatives across operations.
* Create and review all risk assessments and SSOW as required by legislation, review and maintain records
Quality:
* Responsible for implementing and managing the QMS at sites, maintaining certification to ISO 9001, Influence key stakeholders including senior leaders and managers to Group policy & working practices.
* Responsible for building effective partnerships with relevant 3rd parties
* Provide reports with analysis on trends & recurring themes together with mitigations following audits, To manage the timely closure of remedial actions identified during site visits, internal audits or external audits with sites
* To maintain effective update of corrective actions, To proactively support conformance with ISO standards and achieving or retaining certification with external bodies.
* Ensuring Quality Policies and procedures are reviewed and brought to the attention of all colleagues
Environmental Management:
* Develop and implement environmental policies and procedures in line with ISO 14001 standards, Conduct environmental impact assessments and audits to ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
* Monitor and report on environmental performance, including waste management, energy consumption, and resource efficiency.
* Promote awareness and training on environmental issues and sustainability practices among employees, Lead initiatives to reduce the company’s carbon footprint and improve overall environmental performance.
Sustainability Governance:
* Develop and implement sustainability strategies and initiatives that align with the company’s values and goals, Collaborate with various departments to integrate sustainability into business operations and decision-making processes.
* Monitor and report on sustainability performance metrics, including social, economic, and environmental indicators, Engage with stakeholders, including employees, customers, and suppliers, to promote and support sustainability initiatives.
* Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging regulations, and best practices in sustainability governance.
The successful candidate:
* Proven experience in a similar role with multi-site exposure, preferably from a logistics/transport/manufacturing background, Educated to degree level, and/or qualified to NVQ5/NEBOSH Diploma level: you have significant Quality, Health and Safety experience and preferably have attained or working towards CMIOSH.
* Full understanding of ISO 14001, 45001 and 9001, ideally certified Lead Auditor to these standards, Flexible approach to work, while always managing your own priorities and workload
* You possess excellent communication and influencing skills: you’re also results-oriented and tenacious, Comfortable communicating at all levels of seniority within a large organisation
* Possess an in-depth understanding of UK Health and Safety legislation, Can quickly build credibility, using your influencing skills and strategies to build buy-in for change
* Demonstrable record of driving significant cultural change in an operational environment, Able to work independently and cross functionally as part of an established and growing team
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant software. Ideally with advanced Excel ability.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Attention to detail and accuracy whilst having the ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to take initiative, Proven ability to establish and define safety and quality policies and procedures.
