Foster Partners Senior Network and Security Engineer London, Battersea Permanent Foster Partners is a global studio for architecture, engineering, urban and landscape design, rooted in sustainability. The Senior Network and Security Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, management, and 3rd line support of Foster and Partners physical network infrastructure and perimeter and edge security technologies. This includes the datacentre, edge, core, and wireless networks across London and regional offices, as well as connectivity to and from our environments. As an SME, the engineer will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the network is secure, reliable, and scalable to meet business requirements. They will also maintain and enforce network policies, standards, and security practices Key Skills: • Legally able to work in the country in which the position is based. • Experience: 3 - 5 years of relevant technical experience within an IT organisation. • Network Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience managing physical networks, including datacentre, core, edge, and wireless infrastructure. Excellent knowledge of networking technologies such as VPLS, MPLS, SD-WAN, VPNs, BGP, OSPF, and VLANs. • Security Technology Expertise: Proven experience managing perimeter and edge security technologies and working with managed SOCs. Strong knowledge of security best practices, incident response, and threat mitigation strategies. • Connectivity & Integration: Deep understanding of connectivity solutions and how to implement and maintain stable, secure connections across geographically dispersed environments. • Cabling Standards & Physical Infrastructure: Solid understanding of network cabling standards and physical infrastructure management. Experience in overseeing cabling projects and ensuring adherence to organizational standards. • Telephony & Contact Centre Expertise: Proven experience managing telephony, VoIP, and contact centre systems, including call routing, IVR, and system integration. Skilled in troubleshooting and optimizing voice communications and contact centre operations, ensuring seamless integration with network infrastructure. • Incident Management & Escalation: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network and security issues and lead 3rd line support efforts. Excellent diagnostic skills to resolve incidents efficiently and prevent recurrence. • Automation & Monitoring: Experience with network and security automation tools and monitoring solutions to optimise performance and detect issues proactively. • Collaboration & Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across IT teams, business units, and external vendors. Capable of articulating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. • Project Management: Ability to lead network and security-related projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new implementations. Strong organisational skills to manage competing priorities and ensure timely project delivery. • Scripting & Configuration: Familiarity with scripting tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to automate network and security tasks, perform configurations, and streamline operations.
