Why this job matters
You are critical in supporting the security mission for messaging channels. The role holder is responsible for:
* Ensuring that investigations into Messaging related security incidents such as Smishing are conducted ethically, morally, and expeditiously in line with criminal, regulatory and organisational policies, and processes.
* Developing and delivering the intelligence analysis for specific messaging threats, working to mitigate and reduce risk.
* Designing and delivering tactical analysis and operational activities to help the business identify, mitigate, and minimise risk.
* Becoming an industry expert in messaging risk and threats to be at the forefront of the industry.
* Working across teams to share information and intelligence to fully understand threats and mitigate the risk. This applies both internally in BT and externally with relevant partners/customers using relevant intelligence models.
The role follows 3 days in the office & is Birmingham based
What you’ll be doing
* Investigating smishing and other threats to both A2P and P2P messaging, including false basestation / SMS blaster attacks, artificial inflation of traffic / revenue share fraud etc
* Identifying threat actors who target customers or network users.
* Creating and maintaining profiles on known messaging threats.
* Working with various industry partners and law enforcement agencies to share information, creating intelligence packs that can then be used to development strategies to combat threats.
* Making evidenced and risk based assessments of future threats and advising on what mitigation strategies will have the greatest impact.
* Enabling successful threat discussions in all customer interactions.
* Conducting day to day operational activities to support the Messaging team in combating activity which undermines Messaging as a channel and revenues
The Ideal Candidate
* Experience collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders, sharing information and intelligence.
* A data analysis expert in the context of analysing communications data (both entity and event data).
* Extensive technical knowledge of managing evidence
* Experience handling complex security operations, incidents and investigations
