We are looking for a Lead Associate to join the Insurance Flexible Department. The department supervises the majority of the insurance firms operating in the UK across the Retail, Wholesale, Life and Funeral Plan Sectors.
The Department is responsible for the regulatory oversight of over 6,000 firms, the majority of which we are both the conduct and prudential supervisors for. Our work is varied including significant multi-firm projects as well as using intelligence to identify and mitigate regulatory concerns with individual firms.
You'll play an integral role in leading the supervision of these firms. In addition, you will contribute to or lead on projects that cut across firms and address key market issues.
What will you be doing?
* Providing support to the leadership team in the department including your direct line manager
* Identifying and mitigating conduct and prudential risks in insurance and funeral plan firms and markets; escalating as and when appropriate
* Devising the content and leading meetings with firms' senior executives; overseeing firm actions and mitigation programmes
* Review information provided by firms and other external sources to draw out and present key information
* Use experience, knowledge and judgement to make risk-based decisions
* Responsible for ensuring that INTACT (the FCA’s case handling system) is kept updated and provides a clear record of case and firm work plan history and progression
* Be aware of sector issues, risks and news, taking action to use these insights to reduce harm in cases
* Delegate tasks to more junior members of the team, supporting them and managing the completion of their work

Minimum Requirements
* Evidence of reviewing information and making informed decisions on the best way to deal with risks in firms and markets
* Experience of working in the insurance sector with multiple firms and business models
Essential Skills
* Experience of delivering through others and ensuring firm case work and projects are progressed efficiently and at pace
* Experience of managing relationships with external and internal stakeholders
* Experience of summarising information received from firms - drawing out key points and presenting them clearly in writing
* Experience of leading meetings with firms and other external stakeholders
* Being willing to learn and develop, taking on new responsibilities and adopting a flexible pragmatic approach to your work
* Experience of supporting and mentoring more junior members of a team, assigning work and managing its completion
* Practical experience of prudential and conduct regulation
* Line management experience which will include supporting team members with their work as well as managing your own
