We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Manager, Independent Model Review.
The role sits within Model Risk Management (MRM) global function, headed up by the Chief Model Risk Officer (CMRO). MRM are the second line of defence (2LoD) for Model Risk and the CMRO is the global Model Risk Steward for the group and is also accountable for the global operation of the MRM function. MRM activity is managed on a global basis as many models are used in multiple locations. This enables MRM to operate consistently and efficiently globally, and to take account of additional local regulatory requirements.
In this role, you will:
* Conduct high-quality model validations that are risk proportionate and delivered in a timely manner.
* Support HSBC’s risk management by appropriately reviewing and challenging first line Periodic Model Review (PMR), Post Model Adjustment (PMA), monitoring, and remediation activities.
* Develop and report key management information for MRM and the Model Oversight Fora.
* Assist in MRM’s transition to SS1/23 compliance and drive process improvements.
* Demonstrate effective management of enterprise risk, regulatory compliance, and financial crime responsibilities.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
* In order to validate Actuarial models and communicate technical outcomes, candidates should be a qualified Actuary (Fellow of the IFoA or equivalent) or be working towards full qualification with no more than two exams remaining.
* Strong expertise in at least one key actuarial field, such as IFRS 17, Solvency II, RBC, Pricing or Prophet modelling.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to senior stakeholders.
* Good understanding of insurance regulation and financial reporting.
* Actuarial modelling experience in either pricing or validation roles.
The base location for this role is Fareham with a requirement to be in the office at least twice a week.
