Military, government, corporate, and academic clients value the validation of Applied Sciencesoftware and the critical insights gained from correlating analysis with testing.The RoleWe have an opportunity for an Engineer Intern to join our Applied Science team over the summer at our Warrington office.ResponsibilitiesThe candidatemain responsibilities will be focused on R&D activities and they will be expected to undertake tasks in fluid dynamics and technical safety, examples including:Research into multicomponent fuel evaporation modelling, with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)Using research and modelling to perform validation of in-house simulation tools.In-house software development.Data handling and visualisation.There will also be opportunities to contribute to project work as part of a project team, activities including:Risk and safety studies.Modelling hazards (e.g. fires, explosions or gas releases) using numerical \/ computational techniques.Updating internal library \/ databases and guidance documents based on current practice and standards.QualificationsCurrently in penultimate year of BachelorMasterdegree in Mechanical \/Aeronautical \/ Aerospace \/Chemical \/ Process Engineering (or similar Science or Engineering degrees).Interest in fluid dynamics \/ computational modelling.Programming skills, ideally in Python 3, though candidates with some limited programming experience from their undergraduate studies will also be considered.Good academic record.Thornton Tomasetti is proud to be an equal employment workplace.
