Make your mark as an acoustic computer scientist at Gardline!
We have an exciting opportunity has arisen for an acoustic scientist in our busy Engineering Department based Great Yarmouth. As a bright and ambitious individual, you will foster strong working relationships across technical functions, commercial, operations, and reporting departments. Your primary responsibility will be to provide acoustic modelling support and contribute to the continuous development of marine acoustic equipment and mitigation functions. This role is critical to Gardline’s operations, and we are looking for a proactive and passionate scientist to significantly impact the organization and drive future success.
Your responsibilities as an acoustic scientist
* Acoustic Modelling: Provide support using primarily in Python, working knowledge of ML, AI, TensorFlow desirable, along with MATLAB, Octave, or similar.
* Technical Project Management: Manage assigned projects, including providing in-depth support during sailing as required.
* Training Support: Assist with providing technical training for acoustic equipment users.
* Technical Advisory: Advise departmental managers on equipment and department technical capabilities.
* Equipment Development: Support the continuous development of current marine acoustic equipment.
* Survey Design: Design equipment survey packages and infrastructure for new and existing vessels or work platforms.
* Troubleshooting & Support: Provide local and remote troubleshooting and technical support for in-field operations.
* Mobilisation Planning: Plan mobilisations, create deck plans, lifting plans, attend project meetings, and manage mobilisations when needed.
* Legislative Compliance: Advise on the capabilities of PAMS regarding country-specific legislation on marine acoustic mitigation measures during seismic and other marine activities.
* R&D Support: Support R&D to introduce new products into the operational environment, which may include sailing for equipment trials.
* Compliance: Ensure adherence to and promotion of company QA and HSSE procedures.
Your qualities:
You can move ahead as an acoustic scientist if you are;
A proactive and ambitious individual with excellent knowledge of acoustics hardware and software. Your experience is likely to have been gained in a similar role or as a senior operator in acoustics, geophysical engineering, or data processing. Ideally, you will be educated to BEng/BSc level in a relevant discipline (Acoustics, Engineering Electronics & Mechanical, or similar). Offshore experience and the ability to pass an ENG1 medical and attain relevant offshore certificates is essential. Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar software packages is essential
Required Qualifications and Skills:
* BEng/BSc in relevant discipline (Acoustics, Engineering Electronics & Mechanical, or similar).
* Acoustics related degree or academic course (desirable).
* Technical knowledge of acoustics hardware from industry
* 5+ years of experience in the field as a senior operator in some capacity.
* Use of acoustics software packages - Python, MATLAB, or similar.
* Experience with multiple large-scale equipment mobilisations.
* Client interfacing experience as a technical authority.
* Driving license.

* Fulltime: The position is a full-time, permanent role, 37.5 hours per week.
