Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Inpatient Mental Health Service for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist within Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust – Dudley locality.
You will be joining an established team focused on enhancing service delivery and patient care via co-production.
Main duties of the job
1. Implementation of evidence-based/client-centred principles to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate specialist interventions.
2. Participate in therapy hub group programs utilizing a range of psychoeducational interventions.
3. Be an enthusiastic and committed individual who will be part of a wider team, including other Occupational Therapists and AHP colleagues.
4. Be flexible in service provision/cross-site cover on different wards when required.
5. Provide Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment interventions to adults within primarily a hospital setting.
6. Demonstrate robust OT clinical skills and knowledge of working in mental health settings.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Job summary:
1. To work within the AHP Team to deliver assessments and interventions to patients residing on all acute wards based primarily in Bushey Fields Hospital.
2. To develop and deliver a varied programme of OT, psychotherapeutic, psychosocial therapeutic groups and individual activities.
3. To support and contribute to the development of a ‘therapeutic day’ in the context of the Therapy Hub.
4. To contribute to discharge planning for individuals by undertaking home visits and producing reports.
Clinical responsibilities:
1. To maintain and prioritise a clinical caseload with support from Band 6 OT and AHP Team Manager.
2. To identify patients who might require OT input by undertaking assessments of occupational performance.
3. To develop and implement OT intervention programmes, including 1:1 and group work.
4. To assist with the development of a ward-based ‘therapeutic day’.

* HCPC registration
* Knowledge and application of MOHO

The salary range quoted is as per NHS Agenda for Change pay structures. This is based on the number of years’ working directly within the NHS at the advertised pay band.
