Project Engineer/Design Engineer | Littlehampton
The Opportunity:
Due to an expanding order book, a leading rubber fabrication manufacturer has a new requirement for a Design Engineer/Project Engineer to join the engineering team.
You will project manage bespoke engineering requirements, from cradle to grave. With a product line of more than 5000, no two days will be the same, with a mix of design and 'hands-on' production. Gaining commercial acumen, you will regularly consult with a variety of customers as a technical expert.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Be at the heart of innovation by designing and developing cutting-edge products that meet customer needs and exceed expectations.
2. Turn ideas into reality by creating precise, high-quality designs using advanced software and engineering techniques.
3. Use your technical expertise to analyse and optimize designs with calculations and FEA tools.
4. Play a key role in the quotation process by estimating costs and managing Bills of Materials.
5. Collaborate with diverse teams across the business to refine designs, enhance processes, and drive efficiency.
6. Bring designs to life by developing and testing prototypes, writing test specifications, and assessing risks.
7. Influence supplier decisions by evaluating design changes and material proposals.
8. Share your insights through detailed technical reports and ensure projects stay on track with effective time management.
9. Lead continuous improvement initiatives and be part of a company committed to innovation and growth.
The Candidate:
1. Design Engineering experience including design for manufacture (ideally minimum of 3 years).
2. Experience with process development.
3. Able to complete mechanical calculations (for performance).
4. Some hands-on experience (not only desk-based experience) within manufacturing.
5. Engineering degree or HNC/HND or QBE.
