Founded in 2003 by creative graduates Frank and Helen, we look to disturb the suburbs’ with authentically unconventional attire for those drawn to the strange and unusual. Disturbia has since amassed a devoted following worldwide, attracting musicians, artists and free spirits alike.
Over 20 years later, we are an ever growing team across offices in Northumberland (HQ) and East London. Our in-house team of creatives, do-ers, dreamers, and makers work collaboratively to create unique products and to deliver an exceptional customer experience for those who dare to stand out from the crowd.
As Disturbia continues to grow, the need has arisen to hire a Retoucher to support our content and graphics team to bring high quality graphic imagery to the brand.
As Retoucher, you will be responsible for retouching e-commerce and campaign imagery, supporting graphic design projects, and assisting in art direction. Your role will blend photography, video and design to help us deliver a polished, cohesive brand experience across all digital channels. Working with our creative, marketing, and e-commerce teams, you’ll help elevate the visual language of our fashion brand.
This role would suit an experienced retoucher who also shows an interest in graphic design and creative direction.
Key Responsibilities
Photographic Retouching: Apply expert-level retouching to e-commerce and creative imagery, ensuring each image meets our high visual standards and aligns with the brand’s aesthetic. This includes product shots, model images, and lifestyle photography.
Video Editing and Colour Grading: Edit and grade engaging short-form video content for digital marketing, social media, and product showcases. You’ll focus on fast-paced, attention-grabbing edits while maintaining a consistent brand tone.
Collaboration: Work closely with photographers, videographers, designers, and marketing teams to ensure all visual content aligns with the brand’s strategy and goals. Contribute ideas in creative meetings and provide support where needed.
Asset Optimization: Prepare final images and videos for various digital platforms, ensuring they are properly optimized for web use without compromising quality.
Creative Problem-Solving: Bring fresh ideas and creative solutions to visual content challenges, keeping the brand’s digital presence vibrant, engaging, and on trend.
Image quality control: Full ownership of Ecommerce & Creative imagery guidelines, making sure these are kept up to date for both on and off model imagery.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Proven Experience: 2+ years working as a Retoucher in the fashion or e-commerce sector, with a portfolio that demonstrates a strong understanding of imagery and digital design. Additional skills such as basic graphic design or video editing would be a bonus.
Advanced Software Skills: High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, After Effects, Illustrator, etc.), with a strong focus on retouching and digital design.
Graphic Design Knowledge: Solid foundation in graphic design, including layout, typography, and creating assets for online platforms like websites, social media and email campaigns.
Video Editing Expertise: Experience in colour grading and editing short-form video content for social media, campaigns, and digital ads, with a keen understanding of pacing, trends, and brand storytelling.
Art Direction: Ability to support art direction on photoshoots and campaigns, with an understanding of lighting, composition, and creating visually compelling imagery.
Attention to Detail: A strong eye for detail and an understanding of how to enhance digital content while staying true to the brand’s identity.
Time Management: Comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and present ideas clearly.
