Year 7 Teaching Assistant We are looking for a dedicated and passionate KS3 Teaching Assistant to join the dynamic team at a client secondary school in Stretford. The successful candidate will work closely with Year 7 students to support their reading skills and foster a love for literature. The school is based in the heart of Stretford and boasts an onsite car park for members of staff with a vehicle, but is also very accessible via public transport, being a short walk away from a local tram stop. This position will start in January 2025, and depending on how the successful candidate gets on in the role, may be extended until the end of the academic year (July 2025). Responsibilities: • Collaborate with the English department to create and implement reading programs catering to diverse student needs. • Provide individualized support to Year 7 students in reading comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary development. • Assist in organizing and maintaining the school library as a welcoming space for students. • Contribute to planning and executing literacy events like book fairs, author visits, and reading challenges. • Monitor and assess students’ reading progress, keeping detailed records and communicating effectively with teachers and parents. Qualifications: • Passion for literature and belief in fostering reading skills in young people. • Experience working with secondary school students in an educational or mentoring capacity is desirable. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required to build rapport with diverse student backgrounds. • Relevant qualifications or training in education, literacy support, or related field advantageous.
