About The Role
Join Our Team as a Procurement Pricing Manager!
The NGED Procurement team manages approximately £1 billion annually (excluding indirects and IT) and is focused on achieving significant cost efficiency targets. This is an exciting time to be part of National Grid as we embark on a period of substantial network investment, driven by the expectation that electricity demand will double by 2050.
Our team develops comprehensive category strategies that span multiple regulatory periods, requiring advanced pricing strategies to maximize cost efficiency. This ultimately leads to more affordable solutions for our customers and increased returns for National Grid shareholders.
We are looking for an experienced Procurement Pricing Manager to spearhead the development of data-driven pricing strategies and tools for our distribution energy infrastructure, which includes transformers, cables, switchgear, accessories, and related services. This role demands a combination of financial expertise, commercial insight, cost assurance, procurement knowledge, and leadership skills to deliver strong pricing insights, ensure cost assurance, and implement strategies to hedge against and mitigate market risks.
We are also offering hybrid/flexible working where travel to the office will be as per business need. Base location for this role will be National Grid House, Warwick / The Strand, London.
What You'll Do
1. Pricing Strategy Development: Create and implement pricing strategies for all main NGED Procurement categories, including medium and low voltage equipment and services.
2. Cost Planning Integration: Map and influence the integration of procurement into the business cost planning process within ED2, enhancing the accuracy of cost forecasts and advancing the approach for ED3.
3. Data-Driven Insights: Transform data into actionable insights and strategies that deliver real value to the business.
4. Risk Management: Establish a risk management and forecasting approach that incorporates raw material and FOREX indexation exposure, along with strategies to mitigate cost volatility.
5. AI-Driven Pricing Tool: Develop and manage a Pricing Tool that leverages AI for "should-cost" market analysis, ensuring cost transparency and supporting Category Managers in sourcing strategies and tendering activities.
6. Advisory Role: Serve as an advisor to the NGED procurement team and provide critical support to NGED businesses on key commercial opportunities and decisions, considering financial constraints, customer outcomes, and risk appetite.
7. Collaboration: Support Group Procurement strategic initiatives across all Business Units, fostering a collaborative "One Team" approach.
About You
1. Background in Infrastructure, Energy, or Component Procurement, preferably in manufacturing or utilities.
2. Strong market knowledge with proven experience in pricing and risk management.
3. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to simplify complex issues.
4. Experience in building sophisticated pricing models using Excel or pricing software.
5. High energy and a positive attitude towards managing complex workloads.
6. Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
What You'll Get
A competitive salary circa £75,000 per annum dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
