As part of the Estates Facilities & PFI team, the Transport Supervisor will be responsible for the daily delivery of an efficient and effective customer-focused quality Transport service. To effectively assist in and fleet manage 30/40 vehicles and drivers. Liaise with and maintain business relationships with representatives of management within the Trust and other agencies as required.
The post holder will have the ability to plan, act and monitor their own and team performance with guidance and support from their line manager and other supervisors to meet the demands of the service.
The individual will be adaptable, self-motivated, and one who can set clearly defined achievable individual and team goals and any other duties to complete the tasks required of the Trust.
Main Duties of the Job
Main duties include the running of the transport office and organising staff and vehicles, answering the main phone within the transport office to provide a service to the Trust and Trust staff.

Job Responsibilities
1. Lead and supervise a team of staff, ensuring that staff follow standard operational procedures, good practice and established methods of work including Trust Values through Customer and Team service delivery.
2. Hold & maintain a full clean Driving Licence. In-house vocational training will be provided as required.
3. Provide a full range of distribution services to all contracts, including wards, departments and areas within the University Hospitals of North Midlands Trust, and other external customers/suppliers as required by the service.
4. Abide by the Trust's Fleet & Transport Management Policy and Drivers Code of Practice.
5. Check all vehicles and equipment daily or prior to use, ensuring they are safe to use, recording and reporting any defects.
6. Assist in making cost savings by using resources as economically as possible as directed by the Trust.
7. Attend regular briefings with the Transport Department Manager.
8. Develop and maintain a harmonious industrial relationship with all staff and representatives.
9. Receive training in accordance with their job specification and/or trust requirements to a recognised and achievable standard.
10. Learn all duties of Transport drivers and be able to cover drivers’ shifts where needed.
11. Be responsible for your own Health & Safety and that of any other person working with you.
12. Take active responsibility for personal development reviews with their Line Manager.
13. Attend any courses or training events appropriate to Estates Facilities & PFI and the post holder's development.
14. Monitor and report faults on vehicles and equipment ensuring corrective action.
15. Responsible for the safe use of vehicles and equipment, carrying out regular checks on usage and availability.
16. Maintain stock control of all vehicles, equipment, and uniforms.
17. Complete timesheets and/or similar records of information e.g. Vehicle checks.
18. Ensure adequate information is gathered to review incidents and complete the DATIX reports.
19. Participate in personal objective setting and review, including the creation of a personal development plan and the Trust's appraisal process.
Person Specification
* 2 years supervising experience
* 2 years experience of computer skills
